• What are drum grooves?

  You wouldn’t necessarily be able to tell a song just from its drum track in isolation. But like a particular riff on a guitar can define one song , drum grooves are so immediately recognisable, that it is their signature rhythm that makes a song iconic.

  Drum Grooves in Melodics^™ are Courses containing a series of lessons. Each Course will either pay homage to a specific drum legend (and cover a variety of their different songs); or a musicological deep dive into one specific famous song, its history, origin, the song itself, and how you could expand upon it.

• Is there any instrumentation or backing track?

  Unlike other Courses and Lessons in Melodics™ Drum Grooves are just the isolated drum track and metronome -- there is no accompanying backing track or instrumentation.

  Drum Grooves focus solely on teaching you just the unique, signature drum sections that have made their song so iconic, without having to play the whole thing. Melodics™ aim is to have you understand this core rhythmical concept of each Drum Groove in a short punchy way; and applying your knowledge from our hundreds of other Drums lessons to know where to bridge any gaps by ear.

• Do I have to pay to access Drum Grooves?

  Drum Grooves are fully available at no extra cost to Melodics^™ subscribers as part of a standard Monthly or Annual plan.

  If you just have a free Melodics^™ trial account, you will have restricted access to the content – limited to the first Lesson of every Drum Grooves Course.

• Where do I find Drum Grooves in the Melodics^™ app?

  Follow these steps to find the Drum Grooves Courses:

  1. Open Melodics^™
  2. Ensure you’ve selected Drums as your instrument
  3. Go to the Learning section
  4. Click the Courses tab

• What instruments are Drum Grooves available for?

  Drum Grooves are designed for… Electric drums! Check Melodics^™ supported devices to see if your instrument is ready to plug and play straight away, or otherwise set up your own with custom mapping.

• Are the Drum Grooves reliable transcriptions?

  Yes! Our music team are pros! They have also taken any guesswork out of accuracy by meticulously transcribing each Drum Groove to reflect what is being played beat-for-beat in the original song recording.
