Get Lucky
Drums Tutorial - Step by Step
Learn the groove
Lay down a basic groove, and add an extra 1/16 note hi-hat on beat 4-a by bringing your hand up from the snare. Play the crash every 8 bars.
Add the open hi-hat
In bar 4, add open hi-hats on beats 3-& and 4-&, and move the extra 1/16 note hi-hat to beat 4-e. This requires moving your hand from the snare quickly, so use Practice Mode to slow it down and make your movements smooth.
Learn the B section
After 3 bars of rest, play the open hi-hat fill again, starting on beat 3, and move into the B section groove. Use both hands on the hi-hat here, playing a 2 bar repeating kick and snare pattern, and opening the hi-hat on beat 4-& in bar 4. Play the crash, and repeat 3 more times.
Play the song
Now combine the first groove with the B section groove to play the full arrangement. There are 7 bars of rest in the middle of the arrangement before you come back in with the open hi-hat fill.
