How to get Kontrol D2 working with Melodics.

Some Kontrol users may have a few issues when getting started with Melodics (for example, you may not be able to map it, some or all pads may not work for a particular lesson, or pads trigger incorrect hits). This is because Kontrol is awesomely customisable, and supports lots of different mappings – not all of which work with Melodics. Fear not, we'll have you up and running in no time.

Press shift-d with the menu open

The NI Controller Editor, with a new template created, and the pads selected

Before you start

In order to get going, you need to ensure:

  1. Device drivers for Kontrol D2 are installed
  2. The Native Instruments Controller Editor is installed

Both of these should have been done when you first set up your Kontrol D2.

Getting Kontrol D2 going
  1. Ensure you are in MIDI Mode by pressing SHIFT + BACK
  2. Open the Native Instruments Controller Editor, select Templates h Edit h New
  3. Select all the Pads in the main waindow by SHIFT + CLICKing them
  4. Click Assign in the top right corner
  5. In the Type drop down, select Note

And you should be ready to go!
